Positive Mental Attitude

“A positive attitude can really make dreams come true – it did for me.” – David Bailey

Positive thoughts lead to positive actions, and positive actions lead to positive outcomes, but learning how to see things positively doesn’t mean wearing rose-tinted glasses. In fact, it means being able to see things exactly as they are.

When you think positively, even analysing a less than perfect situation remains a positive, motivational experience. With a positive mental attitude, you focus on what has gone well, and you’re able to see any elements that haven’t gone so well as lessons that can be learned from and taken forward so that you can do better next time.

Thinking positively allows positive changes to be made.

Okay, it’s fair to say that maintaining a positive mental attitude is easier said than done, and I doubt that anyone can put their hand on their heart and say they never experience negative thoughts, but the thing to remember here is that your attitude is your choice.

With a positive mental attitude, you’re able to see the potential to change your reality… even in those moments when things aren’t exactly tickety-boo.

If your inner world is in turmoil, your outer world can only reflect that turmoil. In other words, if your mind is full of negative thoughts, the negativity will be reflected in the way things turn out for you. If you’re focusing on potential failure… guess what? Your attitude is your choice, so you can choose to change your focus.

Choose to be positive – positives can be found in every situation.

Choose to put things into perspective – are things really as bad as your negative attitude would have you believe?

Choose to take action and move forward – avoid dwelling on negative happenings. Learn from the experience and move on.

Choose to celebrate your successes – switch your focus to what has gone well and use the positive energy to keep moving forward.

Crazy Jack

Jack Ma, founder and executive chairman of Alibaba Group, is the richest man in China and one of the world’s most influential businessmen and inspirational philanthropists. He’s also an excellent example of the power of a positive attitude.

Jack failed the entrance exam to get into college twice, finally succeeding on the third attempt. After graduating, he began applying for jobs, only to find himself faced with yet more failure and rejection. The police force rejected him, telling him he was no good, and even KFC turned him away, a story Jack often tells, saying, Twenty-four people went for the job. Twenty-three were accepted. I was the only guy…”

His ideas have been branded as “crazy” by many over the years, but today, Jack is globally recognised as a true innovator. He chose to remain positive, and his success demonstrates the enormous power of a positive attitude.

“Your attitude is more important than your capabilities. Similarly, your decision is more important than your capabilities.” – Jack Ma
